I'm excited to announce that my game studio has shipped its first title - Open Spaces: A Visual Novel of Anxiety and Agoraphobia.
Through the lens of four different characters the player will explore the symptoms and some management methods of both of these disorders. We hope that Open Spaces will serve as an educational tool for both sufferers to place their symptoms in context and learn about ways they can manage them, as well as for community members who want to learn about these disorders and help the sufferers in their lives - we hold this hope for all our games.
Aside from our core team, we got to work with some extremely skilled artists for the characters of the game, and I got to try my hand at landscape photography and editing in addition to my principal duties of music composition and assistive narrative design.
We're starting work on its companion app, Return to Self, an app aimed at helping users manage panic and anxiety attacks. I get to produce all the art assets for animation for this app, which I'm really excited about, in addition to writing the music!

Queenship Ascending

It's been better than a year since I last posted, and I apologize for that.
2018 was a challenging year. A blood transfusion, two surgeries (and one major post-op infection), and lots of drugs and recovery, I am now fibroid and anemia-free. The second half of the year was spent restoring physical health - a process that lasted into spring 2019 - and preparing for living on my own again. I've succeeded at both.
I've spent most of my time creating music and art for, and running the business of, Queenship Game Studio. It started with a Ludum Dare prototype, and after lots of discussion and improvement, Queenship is preparing its first ships - Open Spaces, a visual novel about anxiety and agoraphobia, and Return to Self, a mobile app aiming to help users manage anxiety and panic disorders and attacks.
Most of my work for Queenship has been creative in addition to managing the business and marketing aspects of the company, and I couldn't be happier. Every day I'm making music, art, or concepting gameplay, and my team is absolutely spectacular.
As most of you know, the US is worsening politically every day. There are days where I am gripped with fear, for both myself and my neighbors; but my health is good, and I've returned to full strength after all the physical ordeals of last year, I'm seeing my therapist regularly, and immersing myself in the work day to day to plan to the future. I hope to see some deviants overseas before long!

New paintings, classes, and mentoring!

To start with, I am super excited to announce that I will be teaching a twice-monthly acrylic painting class right here in Albany, New York! This class caters to all skill levels, and I'm super grateful to the Low Beat for helping me organize it! I will also be teaching a two-part seminar on video game composition at the Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy, NY. I am, needless to say, STOKED about this!
I've been painting a lot this past year or so, partly owing to illness - I suffered from severe anemia for the better part of the last year, and I'm just physically getting back on my feet after a blood transfusion, a surgery, and lots of iron pills. I was out of work for some time, so if you're interested in snagging any of my paintings or something from the print shop, let me know - I'd be super grateful to you! If you can't afford to buy any art right now, though, you can support my Patreon and get some awesome perks, like the Sirenne discography, fiction, and loads more!
I'll also be mentoring women and non-binary folks who want to work in the gaming industry via a program at the Tech Valley Game Space in Troy, and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of their diversity incubator program!

Women as Weapons, a new photojournalism project I have started, is now shooting! On a much more personal note, I have recently found myself without a permanent residence. While I'm dealing fairly well with it, it can't go on forever, and I am asking all my supporters to donate $1 or more per month to my Patreon so I can secure permanent housing again.
